Using the Invisalign<sup>®</sup> system in conjunction with extraction for the treatment of Class II malocclusion with severe anterior crowding

Clear aligners are a well-established alternative to conventional fixed orthodontic appliances for treating mild-to-moderate malocclusion. This case report details the successful treatment of 14-year-old female patient with Class II malocclusion, crowding, and dental crossbite using extraction Invisalign ® system. Achieving satisfactory anterior guidance by correcting reducing overjet overbite was primary goal. Secondary objectives included upper lower midline alignment, leveling alignment arches, achieving I canine relationship adequate guidance. Two sets clear were chosen; first second refinement. Extraction teeth 14 24 performed during aligner phase, space closure achieved distal movement posterior mesialization. The set refined dentition open bite extrusion teeth. Treatment duration 13.5 months. By end treatment, system in conjunction tooth established an ideal overjet, corrected crossbite, minimal disruption patient’s esthetic appearance. In addition, root axes parallel well controlled, despite extractions closure. Awareness biomechanics when used may be imperative yielding outcomes patients malocclusion extractions.
